Creating your events is easy and fun...
ternCal was built to use as much internal WordPress ™ functionality as possible. You'll find the ternCal administrative screens and panels very familiar. Creating an event is as easy as adding a WordPress ™ post.
the settings...
Setting up ternCal is easy. Choose the day of the week you'd like your weeks to start on. Choose a color for the calendar to be displayed in. Choose which event information is displayed to your users on each event post. You can even add a Google Maps API key. Yes...that's right. Each event can have a location which are displayed in the calendar as a Google map.
customizable color coded legend...
Once you've configured the settings according to your liking, set up your legend. ternCal's legend is a color coded explanation of event types. For instance, holidays might be a green legend item. Any events you set up to be a holiday will then appear green when viewing the calendar. Your users can view the actual legend when viewing the calendar as well.
Now that you've configured ternCal maybe you'd like to import some events...
Google calendar integration...
If you already have events set up on Google don't go to the trouble of recreating those events from scratch. In fact, don't get rid of the Google calendar at all. Set up ternCal to talk to your Google calendar. ternCal can import events automatically from Google as you create them at an interval you specify.
iCal/vCal support...
Maybe you've been creating events in Outlook, Apple's calendar or another calendar for years. Instead of recreating all those events in ternCal simply export them into an iCal file and import them into ternCal. It's easy to create events in ternCal, but do it in seconds with an import!
Or you can create your events from scratch...
the event creation wizard...
Events in ternCal are as easy to set up as a WordPress ™ post. The event content is entered just like post content. The event is categorized the same way a post is. ternCal simply adds the ability to set dates, add an event status, set a legend color, add a location, create repeating events, input notes and even customize each instance of a repeating event. All this can be done with the event wizard.
You've creted some events...now what?
create a page that will open your calendar...
With ternCal you can create a page, which you're able to add to navigation menus, to open your calendar. With the click of a checkbox you can have any page on your site open your event calendar. You can even select which of your calendars (calendars that you've created) you'd like to filter the calendar by!
the Short Code Configurator...
You can easily customize the way your post lists are displayed using ternCal's built-in Short Code Configurator. Decide whether you'd like to list your events by upcoming or month, week or day. Choose how many upcoming events you want to show. Decide what information is displayed like start date, end date, location and more. Then cut and paste the shortcode generated into any page or post!
custom PHP queries and the WordPress ™ loop...
Are you a little saavier and want more control. With PHP you can query ternCal for events and then use the WordPress ™ loop to display them. ternCal also provides very easy commands for printing any of the event related information you'd like to display in your loops, like start date, end date, location, calendar, legend category, how the event repeats and more.
